Emerald Valley Resort, From 6 A.M. to 9 P.M.

Consider this your invitation to the golf event unlike any other. Don’t call it a tournament. This day-long marathon takes oomph as you putt, chip, and drive your way through 100 holes. Tee off at dawn and settle in for the time of your life. Because really, is there a better way to spend your weekend than golfing sun-up to sun-down?

The seventh annual 1 Day 100 Holes Charity Golf Marathon is presented by Feynman Group to help raise funds for the Kids’ FIRST Center of Lane County. Kids’ FIRST mission is to provide intervention and advocacy for children who are victims of, or witnesses to, crime. The purpose of a child abuse intervention center like Kids’ FIRST is to provide a central location for a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach to child abuse investigations, which eliminates the need for a child to be repeatedly interviewed about abuse by each individual agency. The Center provides regional services to Coos, Douglas and Lane County at no charge, and is funded solely by grants and private donations. And while not everyone can work directly with the kids, dusting off your clubs and hitting the green is a great way to support the organization.

Throughout the event, golfers are treated to their own cart and four full meals plus snacks, drinks, and massages along the way. Don’t forget gifts and swag too! This year's prizes include four rounds for four at three local golf courses, the Eugene Emeralds 2018 season Luxury Suite with 20 tickets, and $1000 gift card to Fiddler's Green! For the more competitive among us, take a swing at the Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and other prestigious titles for the chance to win glory, trophies, and of course more prizes! After you sink that 100th cup, join the rest of the crew in the clubhouse for a well-deserved dinner and awards ceremony honoring all of the day’s participants.

So do you have the spirit to go all 100 or will you stick to putt-putt?

Why Golf 100 Holes?

The Kids' FIRST Center opened its doors in September of 1994 as a private, nonprofit organization with a board of directors under the direct supervision of the Lane County District Attorney’s Office. The purpose of a child abuse intervention center like Kids’ FIRST is to provide a central location for a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach to child abuse investigations, which eliminates the need for a child to be repeatedly interviewed about abuse by each individual agency. We offer a warm, non-threatening environment where specially trained interviewers talk to children. The interviews are video-recorded to document the children’s statements, which can be used as evidence about their experiences. The Center also houses forensic medical assessments, grand juries and Lane County MDT case review.

Kids' FIRST exists to help abused children cope.

Your generous support makes our work possible

The Kids' FIRST Center is funded solely by grants and private donations. Accordingly, our paid staff is small, and we rely heavily on volunteers to provide direct services to victims.

Among many other responsibilities and roles, our volunteers:

  • Advocate for child victims and their non-offending family members, providing them with referrals to community agencies to meet their legal, financial, physical and mental health needs
  • Inform and educate families about the criminal justice process
  • Provide case management
  • Keep families updated on the status of their cases
  • Provide childcare for parents and guardians attending the Center's education and support group
  • Perform data entry and statistical analysis
  • Offer office and clerical support

I understand that my role as a fundraising golfer is a significant responsibility and will make it a priority. I look forward to participating in the Seventh Annual Feynman Charity Golf Marathon supporting Kids' FIRST and hereby commit to the following terms:

  • I will raise a minimum of $1,000 in pledges in exchange for my participation entrance fee
  • If I cannot raise $1,000 in pledges I understand I am responsible to donate the remaining difference in support of Kids' FIRST
  • I will accurately promote the event hosts, sponsors and players
  • I will inform all donors that pledges are tax deductible
  • I will assist event staff in the collection process if so required
  • I will register on https://www.firstgiving.com/58967/2017-Marathon
  • Although score is not of primary importance today, we will award prizes related to score for finishing all 100 holes.  Therefore, scorecards are being provided for you to turn in.
  • Prizes will be awarded on every hole and are designed for all skill levels.  See Hole Prize Sheet for details.
  • Play extremely READY golf, but traditional course etiquette still applies.
  • Allow only 7 minutes on average to complete each hole.  A horn will sound approximately every two hours to judge your pace of play (you should be completing 18 holes every two hours). If you are falling behind an event representative may ask you speed up play or pick up and move on to the next hole.
  • Maximum of 8 strokes allowed per hole
  • No Lost Ball penalties.  Don’t search for lost balls!  If you don’t drive right up to it, simply drop a ball near where you expected it to be and play on without any penalty.
  • No Out of Bounds penalties. If you hit a ball OB, simply drop a ball within 2 club lengths of where the ball went OB and play on without penalty.
  • No Water Hazard penalties. If you hit a ball in the water hazard, simply drop a ball within 2 club lengths of where the ball went in the hazard and play on without penalty.
  • Don’t pull the flag sticks.
  • Any putt within the flag stick length from the hole is considered "good".
  • No more than 2 putts per green.
  • Play ends at 6:30 pm.
